LGBTQ2S + INCLUSIVENESS IN SPORT

“Although there has been progress in making sport more welcoming to those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans (transgender), two-spirited, queer or questioning (LGBTQ2S), much more work needs to be done. Coaches play a critical role in creating a sport environment that is safe and respectful for all, regardless of a participant’s ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.” (Canadian Women & Sport, 2020)

As a provincial sport organization, we are committed to fostering and promoting diversity, inclusion, and access to gymnastics within our member clubs. We aim to accomplish this through increasing the number of people from diverse and under-served populations participating in our sport.

We have compiled a list of education and training opportunities, resources, funding, and contacts in regard to LGBTQI2S+ inclusiveness in sport through organizations such as Via Sport, Women and Sport, and Egale to name a few. If you are looking to take the necessary steps to become a more inclusive club for all gender identities, this is a great place to start!
