It was a momentous day for Gymnastics Saskatchewan as we basked in the pride of being invited and recognized at the Provincial Legislative Assembly!

Team Saskatchewan Gymnaestrada’s incredible journey over the past two years culminated at the 2023 World Gymnaestrada with their show-stopping performance, “(Re)Creating Community.” This groundbreaking display made waves in the Gymnastics For All community, earning international headlines for its unique collaboration of multi-discipline gymnastics, featuring pow wow dancers and live drummers for the first time.

The Honourable Laura Ross, Minister of Parks, Culture, and Sport, expressed her pride on the assembly floor, stating, “I’m proud to know that these performers represented us on the world stage. Their innovative combination of sport and culture provides an opportunity for indigenous dance and culture to be showcased while demonstrating the extraordinary talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship of Saskatchewan athletes.”

The warm welcome to the team was also extended by recognition from Trent Wotherspoon (Regina Rosemont), Travis Keisig (Last Mountain-Touchwood), and Warren Kaeding (Mellville-Saltcoats), adding to the excitement.

Special gratitude to our CEO, Klara Miller, and Rob Kennedy, Manager of Sport Development at Sask Sport, along with our dedicated staff, board members, and supporters who stood by our Team Saskatchewan Gymnaestrada participants in the gallery this afternoon.

Please join us in celebrating the outstanding achievements of Team Saskatchewan Gymnaestrada!
