Coach Workshop Weekend

This will be a 2 day workshop weekend for Coaches!  All registered member Coaches and Coaches in Training may attend this workshop weekend.

Saturday, August 24th:

9:00AM-10:00AM – Recreational Forum (with Daniel Fowler) – This session will be an open forum to discuss questions you might have, struggles in your gym, things that are going really well, other topics concerning your gym with other Recreational Directors and Coaches.  The intent is to share ideas and come up with solutions.

10:00AM-12:00PM – Object/Equipment Manipulation (with Kara Thorpe) – This will be an active session to designed to help coaches and clubs foster some creativity in finding alternative uses for equipment within their gyms.

1:00PM-2:00PM – Physical Literacy Concepts (with Kara Thorpe) – Kara attended the International Physical Literacy Conference on behalf of Gymnastics Saskatchewan in Winnipeg in May, and is going to share the key takeaways and concepts from that event. The information shared with coaches and clubs will provide a framework and ideology that can be taken back and incorporated into your clubs strategic planning.

1:00PM-5:00PM – Parkour Workshop/Coaching Course (with Eric Reinhart) – Eric is the Canadian Junior Parkour Champion and has developed a Parkour program based on a four-level system of gradual development. Eric will be sharing highlights from his program with coaches and demonstrating the key elements fo skill development in parkour gymnastics. This will be an active session and allow coaches to take a hands-on approach to learn the important steps to developing parkour literacy within your clubs.

Sunday, August 25th:

9:00AM-12:00PM – Acrobatic Gymnastics Coach Workshop (with Anna Zirk) – This workshop is intended for coaches looking to learn the basics of coaching and developing an Acro Gymnastics program. The course will focus on skills at the JO 5-8 skill level. It will be hands-on since they are going to try the skills in those levels (proper grips, landings, catches). Additionally, the course will also be focusing on the requirements and first steps in developing an acrobatic gymnastics program at your own club.

1:00PM-4:00PM – Social Media Workshop (with Tyler Daku) – Tyler is a social media and web consultant with many years of experience working with organizations from various industries and of all sizes. Tyler is a enthusiastic thought leader with a passion for sport, as just this year Tyler was brought on as a social media consultant and expert working with the Sask Winter Games team.  The focus of this workshop will be to engage coaches and clubs in learning how to simplify your social media strategy while honing your ability to create and share a meaningful message to your community that can best market your club. This workshop will be both educational and practically based with the first portion aimed at discussing the key pillars to developing a meaningful message through the creation of storylines with club relevant content. The second portion will allow clubs to focus on a storyline for their own club and learn some social media tips as they relate to posting, allowing time for specific questions regarding your clubs social media.
